I definitely did myself a disservice when I only booked a day trip to Tallinn, but by the time I’d hopped on the ferry from Helsinki, booked myself a guide /driver for the day and had a couple of cheeky breakfast gins, I was ready to make the most of it.
Tallinn’s Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with cobbled streets, gabled houses, courtyards, churches, guild houses, one of the oldest pharmacies in Europe, and the world’s oldest working clock on a church facade (above). And it was all beautiful, even in the rain!
There’s plenty else to see in Tallinn including parks, museums and great restaurants. And I’m betting there’s a few cracking bars and a great nightlife too, if only I’d stayed long enough to find out.
But for this trip, there was nothing not to like with it’s chocolate and marzipan tasting, Crafter’s gin and the hot Russian chauffeur who turned up with the guide…
